Be Honest

Honesty

Welcome back to NimiTime!

Let's talk about honesty today. My mum is a Sunday school teacher in my church and yesterday, she taught us about honesty. I want to share some things I learned with you.

She told us that honesty means telling the truth while dishonesty means telling lies, cheating  and not keeping to your word.

Do you know that many people are dishonest just because they want to look cool? Like if your friend wants to know if you have a phone because she wants to invite you to her birthday party and she says I'm going to call you ‘to invite you but if you don't have a phone I can't invite you to my pool party’and stuff things like that. You may be tempted to lie that you have a phone so that you can attend the party.

Sometimes, you may want to tell a lie to get yourself out of trouble. I know some of you do that but it is still wrong even though it is just one word. For example, you and your younger siblings are playing in your  parents room and you accidentally break their vase. Your parents come home and angrily ask

‘Did you break my vase?’ then you say 'NO' - just one word that can save you from a lot of trouble that time. Do you know that you could get into bigger trouble when they ask your siblings and they find out the truth? You will be in like 3 times the trouble. So you see, it's not good to be dishonest.

I also learnt that it is better to be honest and get into trouble now than to be dishonest and get into more trouble later. When you are dishonest, you make God sad but if you tell the truth your parent can forgive you and God will be proud of you.

Some of you may say no. Maybe you are thinking ‘Well at least it was fun not getting into trouble while it lasted’ That's not right. That lie can you get into trouble all through the rest of your life! You know what? Just tell the truth... at least you won't have to worry about getting into the same trouble again.

One last thing,  I also learnt that we can be honest by telling the truth, not cheating and by keeping to our word.

So, from today I hope you decide to be honest and if you think I missed anything out on the topic, you can let me know in the comments.

Bye!
